Rangesi, Real Life Superhero Project |
That's why I let out a little squeal of excitement when I stumbled across the Real Life Superhero Project. However, I was supremely disappointed that they had only one woman and no persons of colour (though one can't necessarily tell behind some of those masks).
Also, if I'm going to be roaming the streets of Abuja fighting crime in my sensible combat boots (I told you I've thought this through), I'll probably need to know some of the laws I'll be subject to. That's where the Law and the Multiverse blog comes in.
Now I have to start thinking about my poster.
Hi Chinelo, thanks for writing about the project! I want you to know that there are some heroes of color in the project, some of whom have had profiles released (albeit masked beyond the ability to determine the color of their skin) and others to be released in the weeks and months to come. Soon we'll include Capt Black, an important voice in the community and prolific writer about pro social activism as well as Shade and others. I hope you stay in touch with the project because it hopes to inspire people to believe that one person can make a difference. All my best, Peter
ReplyDeleteChinelo,
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like to learn more about RLSHs from a more humorous perspective, my new book "I, Superhero!!" is now available. It includes interviews with a number of active RLSHs. If you'd like a free PDF of the first 1 1/2 chapters to see if you like it, you can write me at whitebread@theamazingwhitebread.com.
Take care,
Mike McMullen
@Peter, thanks for the comment, I would also love to see more women in your line-up as well. I am so glad I found out about your project, I think it is unique and inspiring. Please keep up the good work.
ReplyDelete@Mike, I would love to read excerpts from your book. I'll email you to get a copy. Thanks!
